Do you think you are making a good shoulder turn?
This is a biggie when it comes to creating force. You have to get behind the ball in order to begin to maximize force. Let’s see how you are doing:
- Take your set up as if you are going to swing a club.
- Take the club all the way back in your back swing.
- Now, while keeping grip of the club with your right hand, let go of the left hand, letting the left arm fall will it may.
- Where is the left arm hanging:
- Over your left leg? Over your right leg? In the middle of your stance?
More than likely it is hanging over your left leg which means that you really never moved. It should be hanging over your right leg or beyond which means you made a good shoulder turn or coil.

If you are a right handed golfer, your left arm should hang over your right leg at the completion of the backswing. This means you have gotten behind the ball and then everything can unwind in sequence on your downswing with power.
